John Owen has been appointed chief executive of the bank’s international banking business. He assumes the position following Scott Barton’s decision to leave RBS at the end of August. Owen joined the bank in 2011, and has also previously held senior management roles at Credit Suisse, UBS and Bank of America.
Katten Muchin Rosenman
The law firm has announced the appointment of Sanjay Mehta as partner and tax attorney. He joins from Stephenson Harwood, where his practice focused on both contentious and transactional tax matters. Mehta is Katten’s fifth new attorney hire in the past six months.
Ben Hunt has been appointed managing director, head of derivative products at the wealth division of RBS. He joins from Barclays Wealth, where he was most recently co-head of structured products. Hunt has over 12 years’ experience in the banking industry, and also served as head of development and head of investment product development at Barclays Wealth.
The stockbroker has announced three new hires to its asset management department. Edward Rust joins from Brewin Dolphin as senior investment manager, effective 8 October. Additionally, Tom Scarborough and Richard Uzupris both join as investment managers from Barclays Wealth.
The strategic outsourcing company has appointed Mark Orpin as head of retail in its asset management business. He most recently worked at Asda as its head of energy management. Orpin is a qualified accountant and has also previously spent seven years in the oil and gas industry.
Global Financial Markets Association
The financial markets trade association has appointed David Ngai as managing director for Asia-Pacific in its global FX division. He most recently worked for Macquarie, where he was managing director and group head of compliance for China and Hong Kong.

The pensions focused law firm has promoted Naomi Brown, Nigel Cayless and Ralph McClelland to the position of associate. They all began working at Sackers & Partners in 2006 and advise on a broad range of pension issues.
