The independent investment group has appointed Christian Yates as senior adviser within its asset management division. Yates was previously a partner at Hazel Capital, the specialist cleantech investment manager, where he established a renewable energy infrastructure business. Yates has over twenty years in the fund management industry and has held senior positions at Bear Stearns, Chase Asset Management, Julius Baer Group and Lazard Asset Management.

Sirius Minerals
Sir David Higgins, chief executive of Network Rail and former chief executive of the Olympic Delivery Authority, has been appointed non-executive director at Sirius Minerals, the global exploration and mining company. Derek Stonley has stepped down from the board.

Morgan Stanley
Mark Glengarry is leaving White & Case, the global law firm, to join Morgan Stanley as managing director in its investment banking division. Glengarry is currently a London-based partner in White & Case’s financial restructuring and insolvency practice, which is currently acting as co-counsel to the private creditor-investor committee on the restructuring of Greece’s debt.

Squire Sanders
The global legal practice has enhanced its capital markets capability with the addition of Tomas Cerdan as partner in its London office. Cerdan joins Squire Sanders from White & Case, where he most recently acted on bank debt restructuring in Kazakhstan. Prior to joining White & Case, Cerdan practiced at Clifford Chance, where he was instrumental in developing the firm’s capital markets practice in Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish.

QuoStar
The IT consultancy and outsourcing provider has announced the appointment of Dr John Knowles as non-executive chairman. Knowles will work with the founding directors to grow the size and reach of the business. Knowles started his career at Shell and spent several years on a short service commission in the Army. Knowles is currently chairman of DEK, a provider of screen printing equipment.

Hearthstone Investments
Lucy Hawkins is joining Hearthstone as assistant fund manager. Hawkins will work alongside director David Gibbins at the specialist residential property fund manager business, and will assist in the running of Hearthstone’s forthcoming residential property authorised investment fund. Hawkins joins the business from Caraeno, the real estate asset and development management company, where she was fund manager of a regeneration partnership fund.
