HSBC Private Bank
Bernard Rennell has been appointed as chief executive for North Asia, subject to regulatory approvals. Rennell, who will be based in the Hong Hong office, will be responsible for all private banking activity for HSBC Private Bank in north Asia, including Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Japan and the Philippines. A former securities lawyer, Rennell joined HSBC in 2000 as head of Bank of Bermuda’s private wealth services, before rising to global head of private wealth solutions by 2009.
The independent wealth manager has strengthened its Jersey team by appointing three new portfolio managers: Neville Falla, Trevor Daghorn and Suzi Humphrey. Falla and Daghorn join from Standard Bank Jersey, and Humphrey joins from Allied Irish Bank.
The specialist carpet and floor coverings retailer has appointed David Clifford as an independent non-executive director, effective from 1 December. Clifford was most recently a senior partner at KPMG, where he previously led the consumer markets unit, advising a number of retailers.
BlackRock UK and LaSalle Investment Management, the joint owners of Tower 42, have hired Daniel Harris as technical services manager for the City building. Harris was previously a consultant and project manager at FHP Engineering Services Solutions.
Legal & General Property
Adam Kerr has been appointed as head of transactions, as part of the management restructure that promoted Kerr’s predecessor, Gordon Aitchison, to the new position of director of investment and development. Kerr previously held director-level positions at Kilmartin Property Group and Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.
Tom Lodge has been appointed to Catalyst Development’s specialist central counterparty clearing consulting team. Lodge was previously head of rates clearing and market initiatives change at Deutsche Bank.
AXA Real Estate
The real estate portfolio and asset manager has appointed Sarah Leroy as global head of legal. Leroy has been promoted from clients, products and AXA Real Estate contracts global legal team at the firm.
The private equity investor specialising in companies insuring under-served people in Africa and Asia has hired Niclas Thelander as executive director for LeapFrog Labs. He joins from Atradius, the credit insurer.
