The accounting and professional services firm has appointed Tom Taylor as a risk director. Before joining BDO, Taylor worked at Lloyds Banking Group for four years, where he worked as chief risk officer and operations director in the bank’s European insurance operation. Prior to that, Taylor spent seven years as a director at Ernst & Young and held a variety of roles at Eagle Star, Allied Dunbar and Norwich Union.
Michael Ball will join the foreign exchange firm in September as chief financial officer. Ball will join from McCarthy & Stone Group, where he has been chief financial officer since 2007.
The professional recruiter has made three promotions in its Financial Services division. Steve Leeson has been appointed to the newly created role of operations director, financial services new business; Hakan Enver has been appointed as operations director of financial services permanent; and Joe Davies has been promoted to associate director of financial services permanent.

The law firm has appointed John Benjamin as counsel in the London Intellectual Property and Information Technology group. Benjamin joins from Eversheds, where he was an associate in the intellectual property and technology group.
The professional services firm has appointed Rees Aronson as head of financial services audit in the UK. Aronson has been a partner at KPMG since 1989.
Andrew Casstles has been appointed as a partner in the law firm’s social housing group, based in the City office. Casstles joins from Devonshires Solicitors, where he was a partner for four years.
The law firm has appointed David Blair as head of financial regulation. Blair joins from Addleshaw Goddard to support Paul Anning, the head of the firm’s Financial Services Sector Group.
HSBC Private Bank
The private bank has appointed Russell Prior as head of philanthropy. Prior will join in July from the Charities Aid Foundation, where he is executive director of enterprise and philanthropy development.
