Travelodge Hotels
Travelodge has appointed Gerald Lawless, executive chairman of the Dubai based hotel management company Jumeirah Group, as a non-executive director, effective from 3 May. Lawless has worked for Jumeirah Group, owned by Dubai Holding, since 1997, launching the seven-star Burj Al Arab. Prior to joining Jumeirah, Gerald had a 23-year career with Forte Hotels, where he managed hotels in the UK, South Africa, Ireland and the Caribbean.

Daiwa Capital Markets
The investment banking arm of Daiwa Securities Group has hired Tobias Blattner as European economist. Blattner joins from the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, where he was an economist in the Monetary Policy Strategy Division.

Barclays Wealth
The wealth manager has appointed five bankers to its International Private Banking division, based in Geneva. Mike Ferguson joins as managing director, and Sylvie Orsatti, Sana Al-Habal, Philippe Sala and Fawziyah Khazal all join as director-level private bankers. All five join from Lloyds TSB International Private Banking.

Fairway Search
Fairway Search Partners has appointed Tony Pinn as a senior associate to specialise in executive-level recruitment within the company’s Global Transaction Services department. Pinn joins from Barclays Trade Finance Business, where he was head of supply. Prior to Barclays, he spent time at JP Morgan, Citigroup and HSBC.

Barclay Meade
The City headhunter has appointed Sunjeev Maini as a management consultant. He joins from rival recruitment firm Hudson, and has also worked at Badenoch & Clark.

Luma Solutions
Luma Solutions Services, a joint venture between OFI Asset Management and Gottex Solutions Services, has appointed Arnaud Massenet as chief executive. Massenet will lead the development of Luma as it aims to become the leading independent onshore managed account platform in Europe. Before joining Luma, Massenet worked for Gottex Fund Management, Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.

Avanti Communications
The satellite company has appointed Professor Michael Walker to its Board as a non-executive director, with immediate effect. Professor Walker is also adviser to Vodafone Group Technology.
