Financial Risk Management
Anthony Simpson (pictured) has joined the hedge fund specialist as co-head of global business development. He will be based in London working in partnership with Akio Shimazu and will also join FRM’s executive committee. Formerly, Simpson has worked in a similar role for Ramius, the alternative investment management business of Cowen Group. He also spent a decade working for Merrill Lynch in London and six years at Goldman Sachs.

Deloitte
The accounting firm has made a new appointment to its electronic crime team with James Rendell joining as a director. He has worked in the security industry for 25 years, focusing on systems and infrastructure security. He joins Deloitte from Arcot Systems and has also worked at IBM Internet Security Systems.

SWIP
Scottish Widows Investment Partnershp has appointed Emilio Cano as an investment manager, reporting to Ken Adams. Cano will be focused on asset allocation for clients.

He joins the company from Popular Banca Privada in Madrid, where he was in charge of asset allocation. Previously, he has worked with Arcalia, the private banking arm of Grupo Bancaja.

BP
Phuthuma Nhleko has joined the board of the oil company as a non-executive director. He is currently president and chief executive of MTN Group, the South African telecoms company, a role he will hold until March this year when he will then become a non-executive for the group.

Barclays Corporate
Karl Nolson has moved from the syndicate team at Barclays Capital to Barclays Corporate. He has worked at the group for more than 20 years overall. He will now be in charge of tailoring syndicated loans to the division’s client base and will report to Alan Turner.

Hawkpoint
Colin Christie has been appointed managing director at the corporate advisory. He moves over from UBS.

Norton Rose
The law firm has announced that Peter Burrows will head up the firm’s Moscow office from 24 January.
