Standard Life
Charles Guay has been appointed as president and chief executive of Standard Life Canada. He will start on 1 February 2012 to replace Joseph Iannicelli, and is joining from National Bank of Canada, where he is senior vice president, strategies, marketing and investment solutions, wealth management. He additionally holds the role of president and chief executive of National Bank Securities. Previously, Guay held roles at Fidelity Investments Canada, RBC and Lévesque Beaubien Geoffrion.
Société Générale
The firm’s private banking division has named Eric Verleyen as the chief investment officer of Société Générale Private Banking Hambros in London and promoted Alexandre Cegarra to chief investment officer at Société Générale Bank & Trust in Luxembourg. Verleyen previously held the same role at Soc Gen’s Bank & Trust branch, while Cegarra worked for Dexia and HSBC before joining the bank.
T Rowe Price
The asset manager has appointed Wim de Ruijter as a client relationship manager for mid-Europe, based in the Amsterdam office. Ruijter was most recently a senior sales and account manager for F&C Netherlands BV.
MBA Polymers
The cleantech recycler of high-value plastics has appointed Nigel Hunton to succeed Richard McCombs as chief executive, effective from 2 January. Hunton joins from Edwards Limited, the global vacuum technology company, where he was most recently chairman.
Berwin Leighton Paisner
The law firm has appointed corporate partner Ken Cheung to its Singapore office. Cheung is currently a partner at Singapore-based Watson, Farley & Williams, where he is head of the law firm’s corporate practice in Asia.
Eversheds
The law firm has appointed Andrew Legg, formerly at Mayer Brown, as a partner in its London financial service dispute resolution team. Legg specialises in litigation and advises clients on banking and financial services issues, including insolvency related disputes, investigations and regulatory work and M&A disputes.
London & Stamford Property
Peter Schwerdt has joined London & Stamford as a senior member of its residential team. He previously spent 18 years at Grainger, where he was subsidiary director in charge of sales and acquisitions.

Cécile de Lasteyrie, head of client development at Dexia Asset Management, has been promoted to head of SRI development.
