The law firm has boosted its banking team by hiring Stuart Brinkworth from rival SJ Berwin.
Brinkworth is a partner at SJ Berwin, where he specialises in leveraged buy-outs, public bids, trade purchases and recapitalisations. He recently acted on key deals including advising lenders to Manchester City FC in connection with the £210m Abu Dhabi takeover and advising RBS, Lloyds and Allied Irish banks on Bridgepoint’s £281m offer for Care UK.
The legal giant said yesterday that it would transfer corporate partner Nigel Wellings from its London office to Dubai.
Wellings has worked as a partner in the firm’s corporate team since 2006, covering domestic and cross-border M&A, public takeover offers, listing and general corporate advisory work.
He specialises in the infrastructure and mining sectors and previously advised Chinalco on its aborted tie-up with Rio Tinto.

Gabbay joins LaSalle after over 12 years based in Asia, most recently with Lehman Brothers (and then Nomura) as co-head of Asia Pacific real estate.
The fund distribution arm of Swiss private bank Pictet & Cie has hired Simone Gallo as a sales manager for the North American and cross-border distribution team, based in London.
Gallo was most recently head of global partners and EMEA third party distribution at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
