The real estate firm has announced the appointment of Paul Barrasford as a director in its London and south east hotels team. Barrasford has over 15 years’ experience, and has previously held senior roles at Savills and Christie.

Jones Day
The law firm has appointed Sumesh Sawhney as India mergers and acquisitions (M&A) partner in its London office. Sawhney, who specialises in Indian cross-border M&A, joins from Clifford Chance, where he was most recently co-head of its India corporate practice.

Savills Country Department
The rural property division at Savills has announced the appointment of Edward Sugden as director responsible for the south and west of England. Sugden has over 20 years’ industry experience, and was most recently head of the country department at Property Vision.

Herbert Smith Freehills
The law firm has appointed two new partners to its global debt capital markets practice. Louis de Longeaux joins the firm from Orrik, where he was a partner. Amy Geddes was previously a managing associate at Linklaters, working in its equity and debt capital markets team.

Duff and Phelps
Jeremy Bennett has been appointed partner in the financial and investment banking firm’s global restructuring advisory practice. He will head its new Leeds office. Bennett has over 20 years’ banking and finance, corporate finance and insolvency and corporate recovery experience.

Sidley Austin
Mark E. Thompson will join the law firm as partner in its New York and London offices. He will be working on mergers and acquisitions and private equity. Thompson was previously a partner in King & Spalding’s London office.

JLT
The insurance and risk management firm has announced three new hires. Roger Maxted, who joins as a partner, was most recently a director in the claims division at AJ Gallagher. Tracy Miller, who has been appointed insurance company industry specialist, joins from Chubb Insurance, where she was a senior underwriter. John Greene, who also joins as a partner, was most recently an account executive at Marsh.

Navesis-ETF
Jason Griffin has been appointed head of sales at the electronic trading platform. He joins from Blackrock iShares, where he was director of European broker dealer sales.
