Berwin Leighton Paisner
Chris de Pury has been appointed real estate departmental managing partner at the law firm. He is currently a real estate partner at BLP, and joined the firm in January 2008 from Herbert Smith. De Pury will also become a member of BLP’s board.
The corporate and investment banking business has announced two new appointments. Jonathan Gillbanks becomes managing director of Sberbank Merchant Banking. He joins from Visor Holding, the Kazakh investment group, where he was managing director and group chief financial officer. Anton Gazizov becomes a director. He joins from VTB Capital, where he was also a director.
The Aim-listed explorer has announced that professor Mike Johnson will take over as its chairman with immediate effect, after Malcolm James moved on citing other business interests. Johnson has previously advised firms such as mining giant Rio Tinto.
Coventry Building Society
The building society has appointed Feike Brouwers as its chief risk officer. He joins from ING Direct, where he was previously chief financial officer. Brouwers has also held other senior financial management, risk management and strategic planning positions.
Walpole British Luxury
The representative organisation for the British luxury industry has appointed Michael Morley, chief executive of Coutts, to its board of directors. Morley joined Coutts in June 2010, and became chairman of Royal Bank of Scotland International in September 2010. He has also held senior roles at Merrill Lynch and Barclays Wealth.
The law firm has appointed David Herlihy to the partnership in its London office. He is a specialist in international arbitration and litigation law, with notable experience advising on investment treaty arbitrations. Herlihy is among eight new partners promoted at Skadden this year.
The accountancy firm has appointed Eric Solomons to the partnership in its audit department. He joins from BDO, and has particular expertise in property, recruitment, and wholesale distribution. Solomons will work out of Baker Tilly’s Leeds office.
