Smith & Williamson

The accountancy and investment management firm has announced the appointment of John Morris as a business development partner. Morris has previously held sales roles in the management consulting, business process outsourcing and IT service sectors, and joins from Ernst & Young.

Barings Asset Management

Paul Loss has joined the investment management firm as head of operations. Loss was most recently head of investment operations at JP Morgan Asset Management. Prior to that, he was assistant director of client services at Robert Fleming.

Palatine Private Equity

The private equity firm has appointed Andy Lees as a partner in its investment team. Lees has over 20 years’ experience in corporate finance, and joins from Barclays, where he led one of its corporate teams. He has previously held senior roles at Ernst & Young and Barclays Ventures.

Aon Hewitt

Aon’s human resources solutions division has announced the appointment of Phil True as head of the equity manager research team in its investment consulting practice. True was previously head of UK institutional equities at Credit Suisse Asset Management. Prior to that, he was primary equity fund manager at SLC Asset Management.

Reed Smith

Claude Brown has joined the law firm as a partner in its structured finance team. Brown specialises in derivatives, commodity derivatives and prime brokerage. He was most recently head of structured solutions at Clifford Chance.

Forum Partners

The real estate investment management firm has announced the appointment of Gregory Wells as managing director and head of Asia in its Hong Kong office. Wells has over 25 years’ experience in the real estate industry. He joins from Deutsche Bank, where he managed its commercial real estate business in the Asia-Pacific region.

Towry

The wealth advisory firm has announced four senior hires. Jon Boles has been appointed head of client advice; Neil Homer as head of client advisory; Andy Springall joins as head of client development and Rob Chandler has been appointed head of client acquisition.

The law firm has appointed Matthias Winter as a partner in its international aviation sector and German banking and finance groups. Winter has wide experience in banking and asset finance, and was most recently counsel at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
