Character group plunges into the red

CHARACTER Group, the maker of toys based on children’s TV characters such as Peppa Pig, plunged into the red in the six months to the end of February. Revenues fell to £30.6m from £44.2m despite a 25 per cent surge in international sales. It made a pre-tax loss of £1.91m against a £5.57m profit last time. It blamed the tough retail environment for the fall, but said its major brands had performed “relatively well.”
