Builder boom for Germany

CONSTRUCTION may be set for significant growth in Germany, as architects are now more confident than at any point since the country reunified in 1990.

According to figures recorded by the Ifo institute in Munich, 43 per cent of architects described business as good, while only a seventh described it as poor.

The German construction industry moved back into growth in May, according to Markit’s construction purchasing managers’ index. It had been in decline for over a year.

Demand for housing is also rising in eastern Germany, indicating an improvement in the less affluent parts of the country.
