Budget win for London

MAJOR London infrastructure projects are likely to be winners tomorrow in terms of government spending.

Chancellor George Osborne is expected to give assurances on funding for the £4bn Thames Tideway Tunnel “super sewer” and the Northern Line extension through to Nine Elms and Battersea.

The extended line would serve the large regeneration areas of Vauxhall, Nine Elms and Battersea power station.

The Tideway Tunnel would stop 39m tonnes of sewage going into the Thames each year. Osborne has been in talks with the Qatar government about funding for the scheme,. It has been reported the scheme would cost Thames Water customers £80 per year.
