BRITISH Land has this morning reported progress on two of its east London projects.

The FTSE 100 firm has bought out partner Tesco from the Surrey Quays shopping centre in Canada Water for £48m and plans to rejuvenate the centre next year, subject to planning permission.

British Land has also won approval to take on the leasehold interest of the Daily Mail & General Trust’s 14.6 acre printworks site at Harmsworth Quays.

The company said the decision from Southwark Council is “a key milestone for the development”, which is set to be a mixed-use site that could include a new campus for King’s College London.
