LONDONER Perri Shakes-Drayton shone at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Sweden, securing two gold medals to help place her team second in the final medals table behind Russia.
Shakes-Drayton won the 400m clocking 50.85 seconds – the fastest time in the world this year – and was part of the triumphant 4x400m relay team.
Her male counterparts faced an anxious wait to be confirmed as gold medalists, after initially being disqualified when Richard Buck, running the second leg, stepped off the track after a collision with Polish athlete Rafal Omelko.
Pole vaulter Holly Bleasdale won Britain’s other gold medal and Child won silver in the individual 400m behind Shakes-Drayton.
Croydon’s James Dasaolu won silver in the 60m, Nigel Levine finished second in the 400m and there was bronze for Mukhtar Mohammed in the 800m.
