THERE were more rounds of white collar boxing in the Square Mile this weekend, as barrister Phil Williams organised a bout against surgeon Luke Cascarini – he of Channel 4’s Embarrassing Bodies programme fame no less.
The charity punch-up at the Grange hotel in St Paul’s was in aid of medical charity Oracle Cancer Trust.
Among the black tie-clad City guests from the likes of interdealer broker Icap and banking giant Santander were non-City stars actress Gillian Anderson and retired footballer Fabrice Muamba.
Ever the confident lawyer, Williams told The Capitalist that he was perplexed over amateur boxer Cascarini’s surprise at taking a very painful-looking hit to the nose during the big fight: “He bust it every week by sparring with me in training.”
But don’t feel too sorry for Cascarini. The Capitalist hears that steakhouse Gaucho took pity on him during training, feeding him a half kilo chateaubriand once a week for the past six months. Every cloud, as they say.
