Booker gets go-ahead for Makro

Cash and carry firm Booker, which has 172 stores in the UK, yesterday got the green light from the Competition Commission for its takeover of Makro in a deal worth around £140m. The commission ruled that its acquisition of Makro, which has 30 stores, does not pose a threat to other wholesalers in the cash and carry market, which the watchdog estimates is worth around £11bn a year.
