Blackout looms as oil workers step up protest

POWER stations and other energy-sector sites face further disruption today&nbsp; as the bitter workers&rsquo; dispute continues at the Lindsey oil refinery in Lincolnshire.<br /><br />Workers sacked by energy giant Total over wildcat strikes are planning to burn their dismissal letters in protest &ndash; ahead of a deadline to reapply for their jobs. The energy giant sacked 650 workers for taking wildcat action in a dispute over jobs and has given them until 5pm today to reapply for their positions.<br /><br />Total&rsquo;s move prompted 2,000 power plant workers to walk out from several power stations in sympathy.<br /><br />The initial strikes were flared by disputes over foreign labour and alleged breaches of a national employment agreement.
