WHILE most City types sipped champagne at the election night parties last night, this group of businessmen decided to play it a little quieter and headed to the opulent Buddha Bar on Victoria Embankment for low-key celebration.

Perhaps keen to get back to their screens bright and early for the start of a chaotic day’s trading, our six diners stuck primarily to the fine grub on offer – including crispy squid, wagyu beef, black cod, duck, prawns and lobster, chased up with decadent chocolate cake.

They knocked back just soft drinks, a few mojito cocktails and a single bottle of 2001 Pinot Gris Grand Cru Rangen de Thann – a shining example of restraint on one of the most exciting nights of the year.
