Great food, company and banter at City A.M’s first Long Lunch
TO CITY favourite The Brewery on Friday for MBN and City A.M’s very own traditional Long Lunch, sponsored by the Hippodrome Casino.
It was back to the good old days of lengthy lunches, as over 300 of the Square Mile’s finest and thirstiest flocked to Chiswell Street for a hearty three-course feast – and continued the networking fun and games (including a putting green, blackjack table and batak wall) well in to dinner time.
Guests from Accenture, Neptune Investment Management, Numis, Otkritie Capital and Schroders were entertained with lively sporting debate from the likes of rugby-players-turned-bankers Josh Lewsey and Thomas Castaignede, England cricket legend Phil Tufnell and Ryder Cup golfing star and City A.M. columnist Sam Torrance.
Reminiscing on his I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here appearance, Tuffers revealed he loved his insect-eating time in the jungle: “It is the first time I’ve come back from Australia having won anything” he told the guests. However it was the racing fans who really got lucky. Irish gem Paddy Power had flown over for the occasion and The Capitalist hears that the famous bookmaker was to be found downstairs after the meal, giving out his tips on Cheltenham to eager ears.
