LUXURY car manufacturer Bentley Motors today revealed its plans to develop a new model, which will create over 1,000 jobs in the UK.
The Crewe-headquartered firm is developing an SUV – sports utility vehicle – that will go on sale in 2016.
Bentley plans to invest more than £800m over the next three years.
“This £800 million investment and a thousand new jobs from Bentley is fantastic news for both Crewe and for the UK as a whole,” said Prime Minister David Cameron, who was present for the announcement at the Bentley headquarters.
“It is another important milestone in strengthening our economy.”
“The Volkswagen Group believes in the UK as a competitive location for industrial production,” said Dr Martin Winterkorn, chairman of the board of Volkswagen Group.
“Bentley fans all around the world are looking forward to the brand’s first SUV.”
