CHELSEA boss Rafael Benitez is preparing to ring the changes tonight, despite the Blues needing to overturn a one-goal deficit against Steaua Bucharest to reach the Europa League quarter-finals.
With only striker Demba Ba and midfielder Oriol Romeu unavailable to him, Benitez has a strong squad to choose from.
But, having played 51 games in all competitions already this season and with at least another 11 to come, the Spanish manager is mindful of the need to keep his players fresh.
“Some players like centre-backs and goalkeepers can play more games,” said Benitez. “Wingers, full-backs, strikers, it is more difficult because of the intensity of their runs.
“You have to analyse every single thing and you will decide what to do and still someone will criticise you.
“If you lose a game, it’s ‘oh, he picked the wrong player’.”
