INFRASTRUCTURE group Balfour Beatty today announced that its professional services division has been awarded a £56m contract in Qatar.

The FTSE 250-listed firm said that Parsons Brinckerhoff has won a consultancy contract for the Qatar Expressway programme.

Qatar’s highway construction project is estimated to be worth over $1bn.

“This win demonstrates the economic infrastructure skills and capability within the group that we can bring to bear in growing markets globally,” said chief executive Andrew McNaughton.

“We look forward to successfully delivering the expressway project along with the roads and drainage and rail projects we are currently working on in Qatar.”
