■ To Mayfair last night, for the summer cocktail party hosted by luxury watch brand Omega at its vintage store in Burlington Arcade. Sadly Omega boss Stephen Urquhart couldn’t make it over from Switzerland for the bash, but Britain’s Olympic heroine – and brand ambassador for the firm – Jessica Ennis, pictured, did a good job holding fort and chatting timepieces with guests including nightclub entrepreneur Diego Volpe and Homeland actor David Harewood. Being a school night, partygoers called time, excuse the pun, on the drinks at a respectable 9.30pm.
■ If spotting Jessica Ennis wasn’t enough to remind The Capitalist of the Olympic legacy, Mayor Boris Johnson provided a handy reminder. The Mayor’s Fund for London has just launched a new project to support young Londoners – Be the Best you can Be – inspired by the London 2012 Games. “The children and young people of our great city are its future and this fantastic project will support them in realising their dreams and encourage them to play a full part in London’s future as the greatest city on Earth,” said the Mayor.
