Android tablets to overtake iPad

Sales of tablets running Google’s Android software are set to overtake those of Apple’s iPad for the first time this year, according to IDC, a research firm. IDC said that iPads will account for 46 per cent of the market in 2013, while a flood of cheap Android tablets will see the platform take 49 per cent. Sales of Android tablets have been boosted by the increasing popularity of Amazon’s Kindle Fire and Google’s own Nexus 7 device.
