US exploration company Anadarko has struck a major oil find in the Gulf of Mexico.
Its Shenandoah-2 well in the Walker Ridge block struck more than 1,000 net feet of oil in several high-quality reservoirs, the oil company revealed yesterday.
“The successful Shenandoah-2 well marks one of Anadarko’s largest oil discoveries in the Gulf of Mexico,” said Bob Daniels, senior vice president for deepwater and international exploration.
Anadarko operates Shenandoah with a 30 per cent interest. ConocoPhillips holds 30 per cent, Cobalt International Energy has 20 per cent and Marathon Oil and Venari Resources 10 per cent each.
