THE NUMBER of small firms appealing banks’ decisions to reject loans jumped 32 per cent in the last year to 3,518, according to a review of the process published today by Professor Russell Griggs.

His third annual report found one-third of those firms were given credit after the appeal.

The Federation of Small Businesses praised the scheme for opening an extra chance for SMEs to access finance.
