BORIS Johnson had a lofty start to yesterday when he went to launch south London’s new hospital helipad in Tooting. It is the first London helipad south of the Thames and comes after St George’s Hospital was designated a major trauma centre in 2010.
The Mayor had a good time larking about in the red helicopter, meeting the crew as well as staff and patients at St George’s. But the day took a less than perfect turn when the group became stranded on the roof because of a malfunctioning lift.
According to London 24, Boris was stuck on top of the roof for a good 20 minutes before he was able to leave.
Well, should the worst have happened he could have borrowed the helicopter and aimed it straight for City Hall. There’s plenty of space to land in Potters Fields.
