LONDONERS are growing fonder of the Shard despite western Europe’s biggest skyscraper initially sparking mixed feelings among inhabitants in the capital.
According to a YouGov poll released yesterday, 57 per cent of Londoners think the 87-storey glass tower has changed the capital’s skyline for the better, while 15 per cent reckon it has made it worse.
Meanwhile the remaining 21 per cent respondents said it has made little difference to the skyline.
The landmark scored better than the Gherkin, formally known as 30 St Mary Axe, which won approval from 52 per cent of Londoners.
The Walkie Talkie tower, 20 Fenchurch Street, has been considerably less of a winner, Londoners came back positively, the same number said it had had little impact while 36 per cent deemed its impact to be negative.
