MANCHESTER CITY 5 vs BLACKBURN ROVERS 0
MANCHESTER City boss Manuel Pellegrini is unconcerned about axing one of his in-form strikers, after the trio all netted in last night’s FA Cup third round replay.
Sergio Aguero came off the bench after eight games out with a calf injury and took less than a minute to score, while braces from Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko took City to 99 goals for the season.
Pellegrini, who tends to select a 4-4-2 system, is set to leave at least one of his star trio on the bench for Saturday’s Premier League match with Cardiff, but has no fear over making the call.
“It’s a problem when you have no players to choose,” said Pellegrini, whose team will play Watford in round four.
“Alvaro and Edin are in a good moment, but it was very important that Sergio comes back in this game. We have so many games that we don’t have any problem.”
On the stroke of half-time Negredo headed in the opening goal, then poked Aleksandar Kolarov’s magnificent long pass past substitute goalkeeper Simon Eastwood shortly after half-time.
The scoring was complete when Dzeko netted either side of Aguero’s finish on the turn, 49 seconds after coming off the bench.
