ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has hailed returning striker Olivier Giroud ahead of tonight’s game at Aston Villa, where a win would see the Gunners reclaim top spot in the Premier League.
The north Londoners will be especially keen to take three points away from Villa Park after the rest of the division’s top seven teams all won their games this weekend.
France forward Giroud should feature, having missed the last two matches, while playmaker Mesut Ozil could make his first start for two and a half weeks.
And Wenger believes Giroud will boost Arsenal during the crunch period of the year. “He was a bit tired recently but now he is refreshed, he is back, and I am sure he will have a major impact on the second part of the season,” Wenger said last night.
Attacking midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also has a chance of being included, having come through an under-21s game last week after five months out with a knee injury.
With Theo Walcott set to miss the rest of the season with a torn cruciate ligament, Wenger said last night that he remains on the lookout for another attacker.
