FORMER Prime Minister Tony Blair’s business empire is thriving, according to new accounts that show two of his businesses stockpiled more than £13m in cash last year.

Accounts published on the Office of Tony Blair website last week show that one of the main companies through which Blair runs his business operations saw profits jump 48 per cent in the year to April 2013 to almost £2m.

The company, known as Windrush Ventures, holds £8.8m at bank and in hand, up from £1.5m the previous year.

Less detailed accounts were also published for smaller company Firerush, which has £4.6m in cash, up from £1.2m.

A statement on Blair’s website said the accounts “do not represent his earnings or the earnings or the profit of his businesses”.
