Upbeat firms to hire in 2014

MORE than half of British businesses expect to raise their staff numbers next year, the strongest indication from firms that they are ready to increase employment since the financial crisis.

Fifty-one per cent of firms think their workforce will be larger in 12 months than it is now, according to a survey by the CBI and Accenture, while just 12 per cent expect to have fewer staff

Businesses in every region in the UK expect employment to rise as permanent posts drive growth, with firms also keen to increase the number of apprenticeships and graduate hires.
