LIVERPOOL manager Brendan Rodgers has admitted to harbouring fears over a lack of squad depth, after the Reds lost 3-1 at Hull.

Rodgers’ team went into yesterday’s match without key striker Daniel Sturridge, who has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with an injury to his ankle.

Goals from Jake Livermore and Steven Gerrard left scores level at half-time, yet a clinical strike by David Meyler and a late own goal from Martin Skrtel took Hull into the top half of the table.

“The quality of our squad isn’t big enough to cope with big players missing,” Rodgers said. “We need as many of our good players as possible.” The result leaves Liverpool eight points off the top.
