EVERGREEN Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs, 40 today, feels the hectic festive period brings out the best in him.
The Welshman rolled back the years on Wednesday to produce a commanding display as United routed Bayer Leverkusen 5-0 in the Champions League.
United play the first of nine fixtures in December away at Tottenham on Sunday and Giggs is relishing the inevitable opportunity to add to the 12 appearances made already this term.
“I’m enjoying it,” he said. “But I tend to enjoy it more in December and January, when all the games come thick and fast and I can get into a rhythm,”
Meanwhile, Giggs has threatened to mark his milestone with a day in bed, dodging training and therefore the birthday bumps from his peers.
“I’m not coming in on Friday,” he added. “I’m going to stay in bed, just in case.”
