Borthwick bows out

SARACENS lock and former England captain Steve Borthwick is to retire at the end of the season after rejecting a plea from his club to play on. The 34-year-old, who joined the north Londoners from Bath in 2008, won 57 caps and 21 as skipper. “Very few players have the chance to retire on their own terms,” he said. “I feel that the time is right.”
