US PRIVATE equity giant Blackstone yesterday took the boss of TV rating company Nielsen Holdings in-house as its portfolio company troubleshooter.
Blackstone, which co-owns Nielsen, has recruited chief executive David Calhoun to head its portfolio-operations group. The role will see Calhoun work with chief executives of other companies owned by the group. He will become executive chairman of Nielsen after the move.
“He is one of the most talented [chief executives] we have ever worked with. We are excited to have him help guide our portfolio company operations as well as the strategic development of Blackstone itself,” Blackstone boss Steve Schwarzman said.
Blackstone owns firms in the UK like clothing company Jack Wolfskin and resort Center Parcs.
