Godolphin call in former police chief to investigate operations

R of troubled Godolphin stable Sheikh Mohammed has asked former Metropolitan Police chief Lord John Stevens to investigate all aspects of his equine empire.

Godolphin was rocked by a doping scandal earlier this year when former trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni admitted administering banned steroids to 22 horses based at Moulton Paddocks, Newmarket, and handed an eight-year ban.

Stevens, who helped the Football Association investigate illegal payments, has been approached after unlicensed veterinary products were seized at Stansted Airport and Moorley Farm.
