Minnesota Vikings beat Pittsburgh Steelers 34-27 at Wembley

THE FIRST of two NFL games to be staged at Wembley this autumn was won last night by Minnesota Vikings in front of a crowd of 84,000 at the national stadium. Vikings overcame Pittsburgh Steelers 34-27 in a tight game, with Steelers coming close to scoring a touchdown in the final seconds. The late dash to level the scores was thwarted by Vikings’ Everson Griffen, however. Griffen came to the rescue by stripping the ball off Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, to ensure that an earlier touchdown by Jerricho Cotchery (shown celebrating, left) was enough to secure the victory.
