All 62 members of the firm’s London markets team will be ascending – on foot – seven of the Square Mile’s most iconic skyscrapers. The 5,762 steps needed to climb the stairs of Centre Point, Tower 42, The Gherkin, Heron Tower, City Tower, Broadgate Tower and One Canada Square are equivalent to the height of Mount Snowdon.
“You would have to be exceedingly fit to run up all of them” said head of the team Digby Flower yesterday: “This is a marathon rather than a sprint.”
So have they been training hard? “We’ve all been using the stairs rather than the lift – our office is on the 8th floor,” Flower told The Capitalist.
“We end up at One Canada Square, followed by the Parlour which is the bar at the bottom,” said Flower: “All our clients have been getting behind us.” Hopefully by donating cash for a building project at Gladesmore Community School, and not just with a celebratory pat on the back in the Parlour.
