Darty says French recovery on track

European electricals retailer Darty yesterday said sales at its core French business picked up in the first quarter, as its turnaround plan started to pay off. Darty France, which makes up 70 per cent of group revenue, said sales fell by 0.4 per cent – an improvement from a 2.7 per cent decline in the fourth quarter. The group has been cutting costs and exiting loss-making operations in Italy and Spain to focus on core markets.
