FORMER Diageo chief executive Paul Walsh is joining the board of Indian drinks group United Spirits, six weeks after Diageo became a major shareholder in the firm.
Walsh, who stepped down from the top job at London-listed Diageo in July after 13 years, was yesterday appointed to the board of United with immediate effect.
Diageo holds a 25.02 per cent stake in the firm, which makes Jura, Dalmore and Black Dog for the Indian market.
Walsh will remain on call as an adviser to Diageo until June 2014.
He is also on the board of FedEx and Avanti Communications, and he has been a non-exec director of Unilever since May 2009.
