Today's City Moves cover fintech, equities and real estate tax. Take a look at these movers and shakers:

Fintech company has appointed former IG and CMC senior analyst David Jones as chief market strategist, further solidifying its commitment to becoming the most popular, personalised and easy to use trading platform. As a qualified technical analyst, David brings extensive experience in financial markets, having begun his financial career as a currency analyst in the 1990s. More recently David has held senior analyst positions at CMC Markets and IG Group, where he provided regular market commentary to media and clients, and devised and ran a wide range of educational programmes. From 2015, David was the markets presenter on the popular BBC Radio 5 programme, Wake Up To Money and has also consulted within the financial trading industry providing education and market content for a wide range of clients around the world.


Neil Staff is joining Barclays Equities as global head of exotics trading and head of derivatives trading, EME. Neil joins in May and will be based in London, reporting to Stephen Dainton, global head of equities .Neil will help grow Barclays’ structured products and corporate derivatives trading franchises across the globe. As global head of exotics trading, Neil will build on the group’s existing strengths in structured notes, corporate derivatives and quantitative investment strategies to expand Barclays Equities’ client offering in partnership with research, SRM and sales. As head of derivatives trading EME, Neil will also be responsible for leading the overall derivatives trading business in the UK and Europe. He joins from Credit Suisse and has over 20 years of equities experience in a number of senior leadership roles.

Eversheds Sutherland

Eversheds Sutherland has further strengthened its tax practice with the appointment of partner Paul Beausang as head of real estate tax. Paul will work alongside David Jervis, global co-head of tax and Cathryn Vanderspar, head of London tax in the real estate tax arena. Paul joins Eversheds Sutherland this week from Morgan Lewis & Bockius, having previously been London head of tax at K&L Gates. Paul is highly experienced in real estate tax structuring and transactional execution; his expertise will enhance tax support for the real estate practice in delivering high-end tax structuring and transaction advice to real estate clients. Since 2013, he has advised in the structured transactions market and has been at the forefront of the tax structuring of several bespoke RMBS structures and the intersection of real estate and hybrid bond structuring.
