JLT Specialty (JLT), the specialist insurance broker and risk consultant, has appointed Hamish Roberts to lead its power specialty business based in London, and coordinate with JLT’s power specialists around the globe. Hamish has worked for JLT for four years, most recently as business development director, and previously built and led global power practices for both Aon and Marsh. The power specialty business will combine JLT’s specialist sector knowledge and focus on the environmental, regulatory financial and technological aspects of the global power industry, and offer a suite of services to both regulated power companies and independent power producers.
Helen Simms has been appointed as Costain’s capability director for consultancy, which will see her build on the company’s already strong credentials in providing engineering and advisory services to clients in Costain’s key sectors. With 24 years’ experience within the engineering and consultancy sector, including spending the last five at Augean as its director of radioactive waste services, Helen has developed and honed her expertise in building resources and teams to deliver substantial growth of strategically important assets and services. Helen is a fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the co-chair of the Nuclear Institution Radioactive Waste Special Interest Group.
Xafinity Punter Southall
Xafinity Punter Southall, the largest pure pensions consultancy in the UK specialising in pensions actuarial, investment consulting and administration services, yesterday announced the appointment of Simeon Willis as the firm’s new chief investment officer. Simeon joins from KPMG where he was a director and head of investment strategy. Simeon will be responsible for Xafinity Punter Southall’s client tailored strategic asset allocation advice and manager research across all asset classes enabling clients to make the most of their investments. In addition, he will also be spearheading innovative and market leading investment research across the investment team for all clients to benefit from. Simeon has 16 years’ experience advising trustees and corporate sponsors of pension schemes on strategic investment matters. At KPMG he was responsible for overseeing all investment research across the UK team as well as being a client consultant to medium to large pensions schemes. He is a specialist in risk management techniques including liability driven investment and capital markets.
