The Royal family, politicians and the public have paid their respects to those who lost their lives in conflicts on Remembrance Sunday.

Prince Charles took over the laying of a poppy wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall from the Queen who has traditionally led such duties. She watched from the balcony of the foreign office along with other members of the Royal family.

A two minutes silence was observed by those in attendance, who include current serving and ex-military personnel, marked by the ringing of Big Ben.
