Hong Kong horse racing betting tips: Generous Heart can leave Valley punters falling in Love

IF THE track rides as predicted, with horses coming off the pace and dashing down the home stretch, it could pay to follow the fortunes of another former champion trainer, Dennis Yip.

Local trainer Yip has proved one of the most consistent handlers in Hong Kong, having trained at least 30 winners a season for the last 15 years. He is renowned for getting some of his horses well-handicapped, and when the dollars are down, they are rarely left behind.

Yip saddles the highly progressive and popular Starlight, who is looking for a four-timer after completing a course and distance hat-trick with the minimum of fuss.

He offers no value however, and I am more interested in a couple of horses that Yip trains who look well-handicapped and will be closing fast and late.

He is represented by the highly-regarded SAM’S LOVE (1.15pm), who made a winning start to his career by beating one of today’s principal rivals Fantastic Eight and is now renewing rivalry on even better terms.

Two subsequent defeats can be excused after tough runs from bad draws. A recent course trial, splitting two subsequent winners, suggests he will be spot-on.

Progressive GENEROUS HEART (2.15pm) is capable of stepping up in class when he lines up. This four-year-old was able to go under the magical figure of 22 seconds for the final 400 metres when landing a gamble on his last start, and is capable of going close.

The action from Happy Valley will be shown live on both Racing UK and At the Races and bets can be placed into the Hong Kong pools at Betfred, Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power and William Hill shops.
