Last year's bouncing boxer dog represented a shift from John Lewis' tear-jerker Christmas ad template. But a teaser posted last night suggests this year the retailer has ditched the laughs and gone for something rather scarier...
Last night a teaser emerged on Twitter account @UnderTheBed2017, together with the hashtag #UnderTheBed, which showed a pair of koala-like eyes blinking in the dark.
Twitter users immediately speculated the account was John Lewis: the retailer did a similar thing last year with Buster the Boxer.

The overall effect is surprisingly creepy, given John Lewis' past form, which is either light and fluffy or pulls on the heart-strings.
