Today's City Moves cover healthcare, legal eagles and accountancy. Take a look at these movers and shakers:
Bryan, Garnier & Co
Bryan, Garnier & Co, the leading pan-European investment bank focusing on growth companies, has hired senior banker Phil Walker to join its European healthcare division in London as managing director UK healthcare corporate finance. Phil has advised on more than 60 successful transactions including initial public offerings, secondary fundraisings and M&A in the UK, Europe, Israel and the US. Phil is a corporate financier and equity capital markets investment banker with 20 years’ experience advising healthcare/life science and high-growth technology companies. Prior to joining Bryan, Garnier & Co, he was head of healthcare and cleantech corporate finance at Zeus Capital Limited. Previously, he was a co-founder of investment banking boutique, Code Securities.
Original next generation law firm McCarthy Denning has further expanded its energy team through the appointment of international oil and gas lawyer, Sam Dunkley. Sam was previously group legal adviser at Oil & Gas UK, the leading representative body for the UK offshore oil and gas industry, and will continue as part-time legal manager at the company alongside his new role at McCarthy Denning. With 30 years’ in-house experience in the arena of international oil and gas, Sam’s broad expertise includes gas sales, storage and transportation, liquefied natural gas, and upstream commercial and project agreements and disputes. His upstream career began in the Middle East, and since then he has worked in the legal departments of large energy companies – Amoco, Arco and BG Group.
UHY Hacker Young
UHY Hacker Young, the national accountancy group, has appointed Zoe Paradine head of marketing and business development as a Partner in the London office. Zoe, who is also on the UHY Hacker Young UK board and executive committee, has been working with UHY Hacker Young for more than 15 years. She will officially be made a partner of the London firm on 1 November. Zoe recently helped develop UHY Hacker Young’s 2020 Vision and national marketing strategy, which concentrates on the strength of UHY Hacker Young’s sector capabilities, its local knowledge and global reach. This is an achievement she deserves after many years of dedication to our firm and, while it is unusual for senior marketing personnel to be made partner, this is also testimony to the impact Zoe has had at UHY Hacker Young. Her appointment is significant as it recognises that the success of modern accountancy firms is created through their support teams as much as through traditional practice areas.
