Wasps flanker James Haskell's future international career is in doubt after he was left out of Eddie Jones' England squad for the forthcoming Autumn internationals.
Jones has named 34 players as part of a training squad that will travel to Portugal next week, including uncapped Exeter flanker Sam Simmonds, ahead of November Tests against Argentina, Australia and Samoa.
There was no room for Simmonds' teammate Don Armand, however, despite the blindside's fine form.
Sale Sharks winger Denny Solomona, sent home from England's summer training camp over "team culture issues" has been handed a recall at the expense of Marland Yarde, who was dropped by Harlequins last week for their own disciplinary reasons.
A recall was also handed to Jonathan Joseph, who missed out on last month's training squad. Quins' teenage fly-half Marcus Smith and 20-year-old Bath back-rower Zach Mercer have been included as apprentices and are not expected to feature heavily if at all in the Tests.
Players who featured in all three of the British and Irish Lions' Tests in New Zeland this summer — Owen Farrell, Jamie George, Mako Vunipola, Maro Itoje, Elliot Dalu and Anthony Watson — are also expected to be used sparingly.
Jones was unable to call upon a long list of players who might otherwise make his squad due to suspension or injury. The ruled out list included Jack Clifford, Luke Cowan-Dickie, Joe Marler, Jack Nowell, Kyle Sinckler, Ben Te'o, Manu Tuilagi and Billy Vunipola.
